The United Baseball Association is a professional baseball league that formed in late 1994, when post-strike negotiations between Major League Baseball and the players’ union reached a breaking point. Feeling cornered, the players’ union found themselves an out as they opted to sign an agreement with a separate set of owners. They reached an agreement, one with many facets eerily similar to the 2012 CBA. 24 teams were born, and a free agent draft was held in early 1995. The shape of baseball in America has been changed forever, and the legacy of our Nation’s Pastime rests on the shoulders of these players, the new owners, and the general managers put in place to run each organization.
