Stars Top San Francisco, 6-5
|
San Francisco center fielder Alex Verdugo had a terrific game, but it still wasn't enough to get his team a win. Verdugo went 3 for 4 with a home run and 2 singles. He drove in 3 runs and scored once, even as Hollywood beat the Spartans, 6-5. The winner in relief was Jason Pickerell. He is now 4-2. The right-hander allowed 1 run on 2 hits in 2 innings. The victory gives Hollywood a record of 53-37.
José González was the walk-off hero for Hollywood. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Stars center fielder hit a dramatic run-scoring single to send the teams home.
"This place was jumping at the end," González said.
