Chikafuji Fires Shutout in Pittsburgh Victory Saturday, April 12th, 2008 Masato Chikafuji was throwing strikes early and getting ahead in the count, his manager said after the Pittsburgh Champions hurler tossed a 5-hit, complete game shutout against the Portland Beavers. "I went right after each hitter, trying to get ahead in the count," said Chikafuji. "I wanted them to swing the bats and keep my pitch count down. It worked.
