Veterans Wins, 5-0, as Anderson Mystifies Everett Friday, July 2nd , 2032 It wasn't easy but the Tucson Veterans made it look that way. Starter Phil Anderson shut out the Everett Hawks despite having what he later called "sub-par" stuff, and the Tucson Veterans cruised to victory, 5-0. Anderson allowed only 7 hits and rang up 7 strikeouts but insisted later that he did not deserve primary credit for the win. "It didn't feel quite right today, but I got a lot of help to get through," he said. "I trusted my catcher and the guys behind me bailed me out more than once when I screwed up." Anderson has fashioned a 5-6 mark for the season, 5.00 ERA and thrown 111.2 innings in 16 starts. Opposing clubs are batting .312 against him. |
