Vicksburg's Ortega Goes Ballistic with 5 Hits Monday, July 19th , 2032 There aren't many who could be pro ballplayers and there are even fewer who could put up 5 hits in a day. Claudio Ortega is one of those rare few, as he went 5-for-5 against the Olive Branch Conquistadors at Tasmanian Devils Ballpark today. The monster effort from the 28-year-old third baseman helped the Vicksburg Tasmanian Devils take the win, 8-3. "We made some bad pitches and he took advantage of it," said Conquistadors manager Dusty Wathan. "That's the game, though. Don't make mistakes and you'll win ballgames. Make mistakes and, well, you saw what happened today." Claudio Ortega singled in the 1st, doubled in the 3rd, doubled in the 5th, singled in the 6th and hit a two-run home run off Harold Tribble in the 8th. Currently Ortega is hitting .343 and has collected 4 home runs, 35 RBIs and scored 29 times, while playing in 59 games. |
