Spoke Slappers Not Competitive in 8-0 Loss to Jackson

Today was Stephen Nelson's turn in the rotation for the Jackson Jackals and he made the most of it, shutting out the Shreveport Spoke Slappers on 3 hits.
The 26-year-old right-hander led the Jackals to an easy 8-0 victory, allowing 3 walks and tallying 6 strikeouts.
"I hope we miss him next time," Shreveport manager Steven White said. "Nelson certainly pitched a strong game against us today. He was in a groove, throwing everything for strikes. Throwing hard. Changing speeds."
Checking out his stats for the season, Nelson has racked up 12 wins and 1 loss in 13 starts, posted a 1.76 ERA, and struck out 112 batters in 112.2 innings.
