New Orleans Gets 8-2 Win Against Nighthawks
The New Orleans Voodoo thumped the Nevada Nighthawks, 8-2, at Voodoo Field. Pete Almanza was a big reason his team got the win. Almanza went 2-4 with a home run and a walk, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 3. Sancho Chajón, who went 5.1 innings, was the winning pitcher. He was charged with 1 run on 4 hits, while walking 2 and striking out 5. His record now stands at 8-9. The Voodoo raised their record to 44-65.

With New Orleans leading 5-0 in the bottom of the fifth, Almanza came up to bat against Nevada pitcher Enrique Vargas. Almanza hit a fastball to right for a 3-run home run. His 32nd home run of the season put the Voodoo on top, 8-0.

"We were firing on all cylinders today," said Voodoo manager Matt Wheatland.
