Extra-Inning Win by Spartans Over Stars
|
The San Francisco Spartans did just enough to sneak past the Hollywood Stars, 3-2, at Salesforce Field. San Francisco pitcher Gordon Marsh, in particular, had a standout performance. San Francisco reliever Ludwik Jung picked up the win, upping his record to 1-0. Jason Pickerell shouldered the loss. The Spartans have hit the ground running, raising their record to 10-5. While it's still too soon to talk about San Francisco hoisting their 3rd World Championship Series trophy, fans are getting excited about their strong start.
The Spartans procured the win, in large part because of center fielder Jarred Kelenic. In the bottom of the 14th, he produced the game-winning run-scoring single.
"Winning never gets dull," said Kelenic.
