Nighthawks Slip Past Portland, 2-1
|
The Nevada Nighthawks had to overcome a fine effort from Portland pitcher Nick Castillo to grab a narrow 2-1 win at Night Hawks Ballpark. Castillo went 7 innings and allowed no runs. Kevin Peterson, credited with the win, is now 1-1. He allowed no runs on 1 hit. With the win, Nevada is 16-9.
Bill Brown was the walk-off hero for Nevada. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Nighthawks second baseman hit a dramatic solo home run to send the teams home.
"It's great to get the crowd pumped up," Brown said.
