Behind a solid performance from second baseman Joseph Savarese, the San Francisco Spartans defeated the Yakima Valley Pippins, 8-3. Savarese was 3 for 4 with 3 singles. He drove in 2 runs and scored once for the Spartans. The winning streak has now reached 8 games for the Spartans.
The game was all tied up in the bottom of the eighth, until Savarese delivered big-time for San Francisco, stroking a dramatic run-scoring single off Clarence Holmes. The game-changing hit put the Spartans on top, 4-3.
"We'll relax tonight and get back after it tomorrow," Savarese said after the game.
