Firebirds Deal Bandits 7-4 Loss
|
The Phoenix Firebirds picked up a win at AFLAC Ballpark, knocking off the Atlanta Bandits, 7-4. Starting pitcher Karl Thompson played a key role in the triumph. Thompson picked up the win for Phoenix, going 7 innings. He gave up 2 runs on 3 hits. He now sports a record of 13-8. Phoenix now owns a record of 65-87.
Phoenix relied on the hitting of Albert J. Suarez to pick up the win. The second baseman clubbed a grand slam home run in the top of the fifth inning to put the Firebirds on top, 6-1. For the game, Suarez had 1 home run and 1 single in 5 at-bats.
"Karl was throwing strikes, locating well," said Phoenix manager Jose Vidro.
