Firebirds Win Thriller, 8-6
|
The Phoenix Firebirds walked off with a big win.
Behind a fine performance from Sherton Apostel, the Phoenix Firebirds knocked off the Toledo Troutheads, 8-6. Apostel hit 2 home runs. He drove in 3 runs and scored twice for the Firebirds. The third-place Firebirds have won 4 straight games.
Miguel Angel López was the walk-off hero for Phoenix. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Firebirds first baseman hit a dramatic 2-run home run to send the teams home.
"We fed off the energy of the crowd at the end," Apostel said.
