Hollywood Unveils New Look After Disappointing Finish to 2011 Season

Associated Press – Oct. 29, 2011

LOS ANGELES, CA – After missing the playoffs for the first time since 2003, Hollywood Stars GM BJ Gorman gathered reporters this morning and promised big changes to the on-field look of the Stars franchise – but these changes won’t be to the names on the back of the jersey. In a surprise announcement, Gorman unveiled a new logo and new uniforms for the Hollywood franchise in a complete re-brand.

“We’re super excited to finally show off what we’ve had in the works for quite some time”, said Gorman, who has led Hollywood to three playoff appearances, one conference title, and four 95+ win seasons in his four years at the helm. “We think our new branding is a much more proper tribute to the Hollywood region and what this city is known for, and we’re glad to be able to show off this more unified appearance.”

The new logo features a mock-up of a star found on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, with the symbol of the classic film camera chosen to pay tribute to Hollywood’s status as the center of the American motion picture industry and the birthplace of many popular genres of cinema. That logo is feature prominently on the new ballcaps to be worn by Hollywood players at every game, accompanied by a home and away uniform. The home uniform features a traditional look in the form of a white jersey with black pinstripes. “Stars” is displayed across the chest in gold, written in a similar font to the famous Hollywood sign. The road uniform is a more modern look, with gold shoulders and side panels on an all-black jersey. “Hollywood” is displayed across the chest of the road uniform, again in gold.

As for roster decisions for the coming off-season, Gorman said the following: “We’re going to explore all options to make our roster better, and we’re also looking forward to welcoming a new scouting director to help us identify new players we want to target”.

Pending Free Agency aside, Hollywood’s 2011 club stops and poses for a team photo.
